Password Genius.

I took my son (he's 14) to the Genius Bar at my local Apple store last week to have them look at a strange video problem on his Macbook. It had to be sent off for warranty repair and the John, the genius assigned to us began taking my son's info to set up the repair.

When he asked "does the primary account have a password?" my son replied, "Yes."

Long pause.

"well can you give it to me so they can log in if needed?"

At this point he looked at me and smiled. He didn't want to give it up, he knew that violated every rule of keeping a system secure.

Not only did he grasp a concept lost on 90% of users, when he did give it to the genius, it was 13 characters and complex. I'm a proud dad.
